A detail about Cadence that isn’t well known is that it was developed on environmentally cleaned-up land. 
The site was formerly the Black Mountain Industrial Complex and home to the Basic Magnesium Plant during WWII. It later expanded into a Petroleum Engineering rocket fuel plant that stored and supplied Space Shuttle fuel.
A lawsuit after its 1989 explosion was settled for over a billion dollars. The Nevada Department of Environmental Protection spent $130 million treating, cleaning, and replacing the dirt. The community is now deemed livable and “cleaned up” by the EPA.

There are multiple locations between Cadence and Lake Mead where groundwater is treated and filtered before arriving at Lake Mead. There is daily water testing of both the groundwater and the reservoir water supply. Nevada stands by their clean-up. Another positive side is that relocated dirt rarely contains critters.
