🏥 What Are The Major Hospitals In Las Vegas?
We have several major hospitals in Las Vegas. Most notable is UMC, University Medical Center, because it is a county trauma facility that is also a teaching hospital. The building is older, but the care and doctors in the facility are top-notch.
North Las Vegas is home to a VA Medical Campus that is over 1,000,000 square feet. It includes every area of expertise, including an extensive mental health and rehab section.
Sunrise Hospital is on the east side of town. It has a Flight for Life helipad for Southern Nevada and a Children’s Hospital. It is not convenient but has noteworthy specialists that make it a major hospital in Las Vegas.

🏢 What Is The Biggest Hospital In Las Vegas?
We can go by the number of beds or size, so I’m going with size. The VA Hospital in North Las Vegas is over one million square feet and is a self-contained facility and care center. Veterans come from all over the Southwest for help.
⚠️ Worst Hospital In Las Vegas
The worst hospital in Las Vegas is also the best. I’ve spent 10 nights in UMC Medical Center in my life, and it is dirty. I understand that it is not one of the newer hospitals around the valley with gorgeous city views, but… The care and knowledge are priceless, but the cleaning staff needs to improve.

🚨 Best Emergency Hospital In Las Vegas
If I had a gunshot wound, I’d want to go to UMC. As a teaching hospital near the Las Vegas Strip, there are many more doctors on duty. Each hospital has an ER average wait time posted on their website- ask AI or Google. I’d go to the nearby ER that takes my insurance with the shortest wait times.
Valley Hospital near Rancho and Charleston, and Sunrise Hospital on Maryland Parkway, both have excellent Children’s Hospitals. A fund has been established for a new Children’s Hospital in the valley. Las Vegas has a need for a designated children’s medical facility. As a project the Raiders NFL team has embraced, it has interesting possibilities.
Currently, there are many private ER companies throughout the valley. Besides UMC, Sunrise Hospital on Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn is in a higher-density area and has an excellent Trauma Center, too.
✅ Best Hospital In Las Vegas
That’s a loaded question. Our Level 1 Trauma Center is at UMC, which I have also selected as the worst hospital. The area hospitals are excellent. Summerlin, Centennial Hills, Southern Hills, Mountainview, and Spring Valley are on the west side of town. North Las Vegas is challenged unless you go to the VA Hospital. Henderson has the newest hospital with West Henderson at Raiders Way and St. Rose, but there are also 3 St. Rose Dominican campuses.

You want to have medical insurance before walking into Las Vegas Hospitals and Care Facilities. In Nevada, all government-subsidized medical insurance, including Medicare, goes through NevadaHealthLink.com.
According to their website, “Open Enrollment” runs from November 1 to January 15 each year. Enroll before midnight on Jan. 15th, and your coverage can begin on Feb. 1.
