Moapa’s Location

Moapa is located west of I-15 next to the town of Glendale between Las Vegas and Mesquite. According to the Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce, there are 186 businesses in the valley. Only 47 miles to N. Las Vegas, 51 miles to Downtown Las Vegas, and 34 miles to Mesquite makes the availability of getting anything you need pretty darn close for country living.

Situated along I-15 in Clark County, Moapa is home to a branch of the Clark County Las Vegas Library which provides a wealth of resources. There are county commissioners for the area, and the valley gets various grants. Moapa is a part of the Moapa Town Advisory Board, which has monthly meetings at the old Stagecoach Depot.

Moapa Area Jobs

Until 2014 the biggest employer in the area was the coal power plant. Completely phasing the plant out and closing it happened in 2017.

There are around 5-20 homes for sale in the Moapa and Glendale area year-round. Some are in town, and others are ranches. People who live in the Moapa Valley really enjoy the outdoors and fresh air. Early Mormon communities came south to grow food. Moapa Valley has 2 rivers and fertile ground. Red dirt, rocks, and wide-open spaces are abundant in the valley.

With 297 sunny days a year, Moapa has plenty of sunshine. However, with an average high temperature in July of 108 degrees, Moapa Valley is one of Nevada’s warmest places. The good news is that if you don’t like snow or rain, Moapa rocks! The valley averages 5 inches of rain a year, with the most rain in February. Although the official snowfall rating is zero, there are snow flurries. Spring and fall have absolutely perfect days and nights.
