The Moapa Valley Community

Moapa was founded when early Mormon communities came south to grow food. With 2 rivers and fertile ground, Moapa Valley was where they settled. Red dirt, rocks, and wide-open spaces are abundant in the valley adding beauty.

The Muddy River was the reason the first settlers made the Moapa Valley their home. They used the water for irrigation, and it became a lifeline to food in the desert.

Situated along I-15 in Clark County, Moapa is home to a United States Post Office and a branch of the Clark County Las Vegas Library which provides a wealth of resources. According to the Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce, there are 186 businesses in the valley.

There are county commissioners for the area, and the valley gets various grants. Moapa is a part of the Moapa Town Advisory Board, which has monthly meetings at the old Stagecoach Depot.

With 297 sunny days a year, Moapa has plenty of sunshine. However, with an average high temperature in July of 108 degrees, Moapa Valley is one of Nevada’s warmest places. The good news is that if you don’t like snow or rain, Moapa rocks!

Moapa Valley averages 5 inches of rain a year, with the most rain in February. Although the official snowfall rating is zero, there are snow flurries. Spring and fall have absolutely perfect days and nights.
