Most of their residences include Low-E2 vinyl windows, programmable thermostats, and water-saving fixtures. Another stand-out building material they’ve included in their designs is a radiant barrier in the attic. Radiant barriers reduce the attic temperature by blocking heat at the roof.
It’s important to know what standard features are included from each builder. Energy-efficient homes save the homebuyer money every month. When high-tech energy-saving materials and features are options, you are not comparing apples to apples.
Save Money Every Month On Utilities
A standard question we ask at each model home is about clarifying standard and optional energy-efficient features. When you are saving $100-200 a month during the summer and winter, energy-saving features pay for themselves.

A radiant barrier is a minimum $2000 upgrade with some builders. Other builders don’t ever mention radiant barriers as a possibility.

The History of Woodside Homes
Woodside Homes was founded in Utah in 1977. Over the years, they grew, branching out into neighboring southwestern states. As with many builders, they were caught with high-priced land when values were rapidly depreciating.
The company filed for bankruptcy in 2008. Emerging from that, they were acquired by Oaktree Capital Management and Stonehill Institutional Partners. Finally, in 2017 Woodside Homes was purchased by the Japanese giant Sekisui House Ltd.
As a result of Woodside Homes joining the Sekisui House family of companies, they have leveraged their buying power. They’ve also incorporated emerging international technology into the homebuilding process. In addition to the United States, Sekisui builds homes in Japan, China, Singapore, and Australia.

The Sekisui House family of companies has added ideas and options to the Las Vegas Housing Market. Global technology from geographical areas with different weather patterns is analyzed and implemented in their residences.
In January 2020, a 5000+ square foot luxury home built with pre-fabbed modular units was constructed in Summerlin. Woodside’s use of global energy-saving tech made this housing project different and exciting.

Building Your Perfect House
In the past couple of years, it is rare to find a brand new construction home that is move-in-ready. You will probably get to “order and customize” your home exactly how you want it.
These are important decisions. There are “option cut-off dates” where you can no longer modify or change floor plans or materials so do not miss cut-offs.
First, you choose structural options like adding a bath, a bedroom or a den, or sliding walls to the backyard. You will then visit the Woodside Design Center to choose your interior design options- have fun with that! We suggest clients add 10% to the home’s price for options.
In our new home program results, you’ll see houses that are the same square footage displayed with 3 looks. Woodside Homes often stagger the elevations of homes to avoid the “cookie-cutter” syndrome.
Floorplans, elevations, dimensions, square footage, and maps are all approximates and artist renderings. Know that your home’s exterior may be slightly different according to location and materials used.
