Zip Code 89002 is located in the southeastern part of Henderson. The 89002 zip code is at the foot of Black Mountain on the west and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area on the west. The south is beyond the dry lake bed, where solar is king.
Straddling the I-11, 95/515 freeway, zip code 89002 in Henderson separates the Las Vegas Valley from the Lake Mead Recreation area. St. Rose Parkway (it used to be Lake Mead Drive) is the northern boundary of the 89002 zip code. There are established schools, retail, medical, and business in the area, and everything else you want is definitely near 89002 and “freeway close.”
Homes for sale in the 89002 zip code vary in age. You find houses built before Henderson was incorporated. More houses were built when the dam stopped construction in the late 1930s. Homes were built again in the 1940s when an ammunition plant was at the base of the mountains.
Interesting trivia – Roads in the area around the old ammunition plant all curve, unlike the rest of the Vegas Valley. This was so that an airplane couldn’t fly above a straight street during World War II and go directly to the plant.

On the east side of the freeway, there are side-by-side housing communities, most of which were built in the 2000s. Enjoy beautiful parks and community centers designed for multi-use and events. Zip code 89002 is a nice place to live, with a little less hustle and bustle than in other areas

Zip Code 89002 is considered safe. Since it has no neighborhoods to the east because of Lake Mead, fewer people live nearby. My definition of what “safe” means and yours will also differ because of our points of view. I usually look at the Las Vegas Strip as an example.
In general, The Strip is a “safe” street to walk on, and hotel/casinos are safe to go into. However, everyone has heard of incidents, and if you look at the crime mapping information, you’ll be surprised. A lot of cars are stolen in Las Vegas every day, mainly from the tourist corridors. Other criminal activity happens. Do you consider it safe?
In neighborhoods, I believe many crimes are crimes of opportunity. If you leave your garage door open all night, it might attract trouble. Do you lock the door going into your house from your garage? Packages left on the porch during the day or at night are another example of frequent neighborhood crimes. Look for yourself before moving to any neighborhood.
