There are crime maps where you can enter addresses and see the stats for the week in the area. It’s common to see people exercising and walking pets in this area. Many neighborhoods are filled with cameras and are gated.
Our favorite place in the 89147 zip code is Desert Breeze Park. Just north of this zip code is “The Lakes.” It’s a master-planned community with over 5000 houses and no parks. Las Vegas learned a lesson when it realized this, and now almost every neighborhood needs to have a park. Desert Breeze was built over an old rock quarry that was filled with the Dunes Hotel when it was blown up.
The park soccer fields are also flood control basins. There’s a concert and event area, baseball, and tennis. The aquatics center has a splash pad and multiple pools with slides. There is a recreation center. This is a great park to have a picnic or to watch fireworks.
