The zip code 89156 is in a higher-density area of the valley due to the proximity to Nellis Air Force Base. Active and inactive military like being close to the commissary and the base. Watching planes is extremely popular. Between helicopters, stealths and fighters, looking up is fun!
Nellis Air Force Base is home to the Blue Angels. There’s nothing like a Blue Angel flyover, and Las Vegas is grateful for their continued support. During the pandemic lockdown, they made a loop over 13 Las Vegas Valley hospitals and the Strip. We thoroughly enjoyed it. They then started doing flyovers in other cities.
There is an air show every fall that is worth going to. There is a park with a hill near the base where we saw many people watching the show last year. If you only have an hour or two on Air Show Day, visit the park with a chair.
