Years ago, this area was all horse ranches. In the late 1990s, the area was taken out of the flood zone due to the Flood Control Department spending a fortune. See the blue water retention holding areas on the map above.
The first tract homes in the area were in Huntington. They were large houses and called “luxury possible” houses – if you upgraded them. Opening weekend, they gave away built-in Sub-Zero refrigerators, and we sold two. It was a unique subdivision, mixed in with horse property and custom homes. They were highly desirable floor plans on 1/2 acre lots.
This neighborhood was not on a busy street, gated, and one model had two staircases, starting at $250,000. I loved showing these houses! But that was 25 years ago, and people have spent a lot of money upgrading their houses and landscaping their yards since then.
Huntington is still a rare find. Most houses have kitchens with stainless steel appliances, new paint, new blinds throughout, and updated floors. Resort-style backyards and open-concept layouts are highly sought-after.
